Hello and thank you for visiting my page! My name is Amanda Mundell. I run a microschool out of my home in Mesa, Arizona. I have a Bachelor’s in Elementary Education, and I am a certified elementary teacher. I have 3 children of my own who are also a part of our microschool. Some things I love to do are sing, dance, create music, hike, be out in nature, garden, workout, learn new things, and of course, help others grow!
I was a public school teacher for 7 years (mostly 2nd grade). Then a substitute for a couple of years while my older two kids were younger. Once my second child was about to go into Kindergarten, and with all the craziness going on in 2020, we decided to give Prenda a try.
For 2 years I guided a microschool with Prenda out of my home. I absolutely LOVED it!!! Being able to connect with my students, get to know them on a deeper level, and meet so much more of their needs created such an amazing experience. I remember when teaching in a class of 30 and thinking, "You know, I bet I could help so many more students succeed if I only had a class of 10." So running a microschool was like a dream come true.
However, within those two years, I became pregnant with our 3rd child. As our youngest became a toddler, I knew it was going to be difficult to run a full microschool. That’s when we switched to homeschooling.
Homeschooling has been challenging, but also a wonderful experience as well. I loved the flexibility, and all the exploring of different curricula and outings we got to do. The only thing is….I really miss teaching other students too! My children have missed it as well. Even with connecting with homeschool co-ops, it didn't seem like enough socialization for them. So between that and my youngest getting older, we are back to microschooling again!
